Annapurna Base Camp Trek

11 Days

The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek is one of the most popular hiking routes in Nepal. The trek takes you through some of the most spectacular mountain landscapes in the world, with panoramic views of the Annapurna mountain range, including Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain). The trek typically starts in the town of Ghandruk, a few hours drive from the city of Pokhara.

One of the highlights of the ABC trek is the hike up to Poon Hill, a viewpoint that offers panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges at sunrise. From there, the trail continues through picturesque villages and dense rhododendron forests to the village of Chhomrong, located at the base of the Modi Khola valley. From Chhomrong, the trail descends into the valley and follows the river upstream, passing through bamboo forests and past waterfalls, before reaching the village of Deurali. From there, the trail climbs steeply up to Machhapuchhre Base Camp and eventually to Annapurna Base Camp, located at an altitude of 4,130 meters (13,550 feet).

At Annapurna Base Camp, trekkers are treated to breathtaking views of the Annapurna massif, surrounded by towering peaks and glaciers. After spending some time at the base camp, the trail retraces its steps back down to Nayapul, where the trek ends. Overall, the ABC trek is a challenging but rewarding experience that offers stunning natural beauty and cultural immersion, with opportunities to interact with local communities and experience traditional Nepalese hospitality.
