Dhaulagiri Base Camp Trek

18 Days

Dhaulagiri base camp trek is a challenging trek that takes you to the base camp of Mt. Dhaulagiri, the seventh highest mountain in the world. The trek offers breathtaking views of the Dhaulagiri range, including several other peaks above 8,000 meters, such as Annapurna, Manaslu, and Machhapuchhre. The trek starts from Beni, a small town located around 80 kilometers west of Pokhara. From Beni, you will follow the Myagdi Khola and cross several small villages to reach Dhaulagiri base camp. Along the way, you will pass through lush green forests, terraced fields, and rocky terrain till you reach the high mountain desert. One of the highlights of the trek is crossing the French Pass, which stands at 5,360 meters. The pass offers magnificent panoramic views of the mountains and glaciers on the other side of it. The trek further continues to cross the Dhampus Pass at an altitude of 5,250 meters and ends at Jomsom, from where you will take a flight back to Pokhara.

The Dhaulagiri base camp trek is considered a challenging trek and requires good physical fitness and trekking experience. The best time to trek to Dhaulagiri base camp is from March to May and September to November. During these seasons, the weather is clear, and the views are stunning. Overall, the trek is a fantastic opportunity for adventure seekers to explore the remote and off-the-beaten-track areas of Nepal.
