Kopra Ridge Trek is a popular trekking route in the Annapurna region of Nepal. It is a relatively new route that offers a great alternative to the more crowded trek route in Annapurna region. The trek starts from Kimche and passes through beautiful villages like Ghandruk, Ghorepani, before reaching the Kopra Ridge. The ridge offers stunning views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Nilgiri, and Hiunchuli. Some of the highlights of the Kopra Ridge Trek include the sunrise view from Poon Hill, the beautiful Rhododendron forests, and the chance to interact with the local Gurung and Magar communities. The 12 days trek is a considered a moderate trek, suitable for anyone with a basic level of fitness. The best time to visit is from September to November and from March to May.

DETAILS ITINERARY:
Day 1: Arival in Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel (1,350m)
Upon arrival in Kathmandu at Tribhuvan International Airport, an Expediya Holiday representative will be warmly greeted with traditional Dhaka Khada and transferred to the hotel in (Check in at 1400 Hrs).
Reminder of the day is at leisure.

Day 2: Kathmandu Valley tour & Trek Preparation
After breakfast, the day will start with our guided trip to cultural world heritage sites.
Pashupatinath Temple: Your day starts with a visit to the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Renowned as one of the holiest temples of the Hindu deity Lord Shiva, its architecture, and the surrounding ghats along the Bagmati River offer a glimpse into Nepal’s religious practices.
Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple): Perched atop a hill, Swayambhunath, commonly known as the Monkey Temple, provides panoramic views of Kathmandu. The stupa, adorned with the watchful eyes of Buddha, is a sanctuary for both Buddhists and Hindus.
Kathmandu Durbar Square: Kathmandu Durbar Square is located in the heart of old city Kathmandu. It is a vivid testament to Nepal rich history and artistry with notable landmarks like the Hanuman Dhoka, Kumari ghar (home of the living goddess Kumari) and numerous intricately carved temples. Visitors can explore centuries old craftsmanship and immerse themselves in the vibrant culture of Kathmandu.

Day 3: Fly to Pokhara and Drive to Kimche,Then Trek to Ghandruk (1,940m, 1-2 Â hrs)
On day two, after a short flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara, you’ll be welcomed by awe-inspiring views of majestic peaks like Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Machhapuchhre from the Annapurna massif. Pokhara, a famous tourist destination, is renowned for its scenic beauty alongside the enchanting Phewa Lake, known for its reflection of the stunning Machhapuchhre Mountain. From Pokhara, we’ll drive for two hours to Kimche, followed by a one-hour Trek up to Ghandruk.

Day 4: Trek from Ghandruk to Tadapani (2,600m, 4-5 hrs)
From Ghandruk village, ascend through Deurali, meandering along lush forest paths adorned with blooming Rhododendron flowers. Traverse a small pass to reach Tadapani. Along the trek, immerse yourself in the serene beauty of the flowery path, especially vibrant with Rhododendron blossoms in spring, forming a fluorescent canopy overhead.

Day 5: Trek from Tadapani to Dobato (3,350m, 5-6 hrs)
From Tadapani, we embark on a lesser-known path winding through lush rhododendron and oak forests. En route, we pass picturesque villages, encounter diverse plant and animal life, and marvel at ancient trees. After a brief climb and descent, we face a more challenging ascent leading us to the Dobato lodges. This journey promises stunning views and a deeply rewarding experience amidst the heart of nature.

Day 6: Trek from Dobato to Khopra Ridge (3,660m, 6-7 hrs)
Wake up early to witness the Himalayan sunrise from Muldai Viewpoint, a breathtaking sight you’ll treasure. After breakfast at the teahouse, embark on the trek to Khopra Ridge. The trail winds through rhododendron forests with stunning views of Dhaulagiri. Despite its challenges, especially in spring, when the trail is adorned with rhododendron petals and wildflowers, it offers a magical experience akin to a mystical mountain kingdom. Enjoy the serene trail with occasional encounters with yaks and mule trains. Rest at a community-run teahouse upon reaching Khopra Danda.

Day 7: Hike to Khayer Lake and Back to Khopra Ridge (4,500m,8-9 hrs)
Wake up early to catch the Himalayan sunrise over snow-capped peaks like Dhaulagiri and Annapurna South. Don’t forget your camera to capture this stunning view. After breakfast, head to Khayer Lake, a sacred high-altitude mountain lake. The hike takes you through the slopes of the Annapurna Massif, surrounded by mountains and glaciers. Hindu shrines adorn the lake’s periphery, believed to have purifying powers. After admiring the scenery and taking pictures, return to your teahouse at Khopra Ridge.

Day 8: Khopra Ridge to Swanta Village (2,214m, 5-6 hrs)
After soaking in the majestic Himalayan panorama from Khopra Ridge, begin your descent towards Swanta Village. Nestled on a gentle hill slope amidst paddy and potato fields, this village boasts traditional houses. Carefully navigate the steep descent, enjoying views of the imposing Dhaulagiri and typical Nepalese mountain landscapes with terraced fields and ridge-top villages. Upon reaching Swanta, rest at a teahouse. If energy permits, explore the picturesque village and soak in the views of the neighboring hills.

Day 9: Swanta Village to Ghorepani (2,858m, 4-5 hrs)
After breakfast, trek downhill through lush jungle and past paddy fields. Cross the river, observing a nearby water mill. Walk across a swaying suspension bridge to reach Chittre village. Join the bustling Ghorpani trail, encountering fellow trekkers and mule trains climbing well-laid stone steps to reach Ghorpani village. Named “Horse Water” in Nepali, it served as a watering hole for caravans on the ancient Tibet trade route. Rest at your teahouse in Ghorpani for a well-deserved overnight sleep.

Day 10: Hike to Poonhill,Trek to Hile and Drive to Pokhara (827m)
Hike up to Poonhill for a magical sunrise over the Himalayan giants like Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Massif. The 360-degree view of the radiant mountains bathed in golden rays is truly mesmerizing. Afterward, hike down to Ghorepani, have breakfast, and trek towards Hile, enjoying inspiring nature views along the steep downhill walk. Upon reaching Hile, board a vehicle for a scenic drive to Pokhara. Check into your hotel ,Enjoy an afternoon exploring the lakeside city and relaxing by Phewa Lake.

Day 11: Flight back to Kathmandu (1,350m)
After your flight back to Kathmandu, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. Take some time to rest or stroll around Thamel area, known as the tourist hub for shopping.In the evening, we come together for a special farewell dinner at a traditional Nepalese restaurant.
