The trek offers stunning views of the highest mountain range in the world, including Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Makalu. The trek starts from Lukla and follows the Dudh Koshi river, passing through beautiful Sherpa villages, and ascending gradually into the high mountains. The Gokyo valley is home to six glacial lakes and the highest freshwater lake system in the world. The emerald green and turquoise-blue lakes are set against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks, making for a breathtaking sight. The Gokyo Lake Trek is a moderate to difficult trek, and it takes 12 days to complete. It is best to undertake the trek during the spring and autumn seasons when the weather is clear, and the views are spectacular. The trek requires a good level of physical fitness and acclimatization to the high altitude. However, the overall experience is worth every effort put in. |
